Instructions
Apple Topping 1 Cut two apples in half and remove the stem and core. Then cut the halves into 1/2 inch slices. 2 Place the butter and brown sugar in a large saucepan, and cook on medium heat until butter is melted and sugar is liquid. Stir in the spices, then add your apples. Use a rubber spatula to stir and flip apple slices carefully to coat and cook. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until mostly softened and set aside. (about 7-8 minutes) French Toast 1 Stir together the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium bowl. 2 Add the milk, eggs, and vanilla then whisk to combine. 3 Transfer batter to a large shallow bowl for dipping. 4 Using a medium sized skillet, melt 2 tablespoon if butter on medium heat. 5 Dip both sides of a bread slice in the batter. Place in the hot skillet and cook 1-2 minutes in both sides until golden brown. Repeat with remaining slices. Add the final 2 tablespoons of butter halfway between cooking the slices to keep skillet buttered. 6 Place slices on serving dishes, stacking as many slices as you want to serve. Then top with warm apples and drizzle with the apple syrup. 7 Top with a dusting of powdered sugar and/or maple syrup if you like.View original recipe
